Insurance that pays for medical care and lost wages when an employee is hurt on the job, and helps them return to work.

Finding, measuring, and reducing the hazards a business faces before they turn into losses.
Managed Care
Coordinating quality, cost-effective medical treatment so injured workers recover well and return safely.

Investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims so people receive what they are owed, fairly and quickly.
Our story
Built by people who know the work.
WRMC was started by professionals with careers in workers’ compensation, risk, managed care, and claims. They kept seeing the same gap.
Talented young people had never been told these careers existed. At the same time, employers were struggling to replace experienced staff who were retiring.
WRMC closes that gap. We bring students into the industry early, pair them with mentors who do the work every day, and connect them with apprenticeships that lead to real jobs.

The WRMC cohort
Three months. Three milestones.
Our cohort guides rising high school seniors and first-year college students through a focused three-month experience, from first introduction to a real career decision.
- Month 1
Orientation
Professional development: workplace expectations, communication, résumés, and a first look at workers’ compensation, risk, managed care, and claims.
- Month 2
Mentor sessions
Students meet with adjusters and executive staff to see the work up close and ask the questions that matter.
- Month 3
Career path decision
Students decide whether to pursue an insurance career. Those who do get help with the next step: an apprenticeship, internship, coursework, or a first role.

- Recovering claim costs from the party who caused the loss.

- Money set aside to pay a claim’s expected future costs.
- EMRExperience Modification Rate
- A number that compares an employer’s injury history with similar businesses. It raises or lowers their premium.
- URUtilization Review
- A check that recommended medical treatment is necessary and appropriate.

- A report of a business’s past claims, used to price and underwrite coverage.

Who can apply?
Rising high school seniors and first-year college students. You don’t need insurance experience or a particular major.
Does it cost anything?
No. WRMC programs are free for students.
How much time does it take?
The cohort runs about three months. Plan on a few hours each month for sessions and mentor meetings.
Are sessions virtual or in person?
Both. Many sessions are virtual, and we host in-person events in the Atlanta area.
What if I’m not sure insurance is for me?
That’s what the program is for. Month three is all about deciding your path, and there’s no wrong answer.
Can my parent or school counselor contact you?
Yes. They can email info@wrmc-inc.org and we’ll answer their questions.

No. We welcome professionals from across insurance, including workers’ compensation, risk management, managed care, underwriting, and operations.

Is training provided?
Yes. Every mentor attends an orientation and receives conversation guides and support from WRMC staff.
Is a background check required?
Mentors who work with students under 18 complete a background check before they are matched.
